My name is Joanne Routenberg, and I serve as Director of Student Placement & Homestay Services, supporting student placement and the homestay process to ensure families receive expert guidance when selecting a host family.

While our work has traditionally focused on international students, we are also proud to support domestic students seeking homestay placements.

Student safety and well-being are our highest priorities. Every host family completes a thorough screening process, including background checks, home visits, and reference checks, to ensure each student is placed in a safe, supportive, and welcoming home.

I have worked in international education since 2009 and have extensive experience supporting students, families, and schools. Hosting is also personal to me—my family has welcomed more than 15 international students into our home, and our own children have lived abroad with host families, giving me a deep understanding of the trust families place in this experience.

Our goal is to make the homestay process as seamless and supportive as possible, helping every student feel at home while studying away from home. We look forward to partnering with you and creating meaningful homestay experiences.

My name is Daniel Li, and I am the founder of HomePort. As a former international student who had lived many years far from home I have come to fully understand the many difficulties that plague students when trying to find a suitable place to live.

When trying to search for a suitable place to live in a foreign nation, it can often feel like trying to navigate the open sea without an astrolabe or a compass. That is why I founded HomePort, our mission is to be the lighthouse at the harbor, guiding each student and making sure they reach their destination safely.

Homeport was founded to be a one stop shop to help students find a suitable place to stay wherever they decide to study. Our expert team works with local schools, families, and communities in search of the perfect place to stay. Our residential house program available in several states offers the best environment run by our professional staff that we hire with a rigorous selection process.

We ensure that each child that chooses to stay with HomePort will be taken care of as if they were our own children. I hope that our team can help students find a suitable place that feels like home, so that they may flourish and succeed in their courageous curiosity abroad.
